Amnesty International Italia, Assopace Palestina, and the Palestinian Student Movement in Italy present “Beit Al Falastini,” which translates to “the Palestinian house,” an event dedicated to discovering Palestinian culture through art and cuisine.
“Beit Al Falastini” embodies the main objective of this two-day event: to transmit the emotion of entering a Palestinian home and discovering its nuances and traditions.
The festival aims to offer a different perspective on Palestine, going beyond the narrative of a state characterized by military occupation and violence.
On September 21st and 22nd, at the Villetta Social Lab in Rome, in the heart of Garbatella, the festival dedicated to Palestinian tradition, music, and food will take place. It will feature two days of meetings, debates, films, music, dances, Henna, and tastings, from mint tea to performances of “dakba,” one of the main folk dances of Palestinian tradition!
The olive trees of the Villetta Social Lab will remind us of our land.
On the first day, September 21st, among the various guests, there will be the Palestinian writer and journalist Ramzy Baroud, director of the Palestinian Chronicle, who will present his book “The Last Earth.”
Following that, Professor Triestino Marinello from the University of Liverpool and Luisa Morgantini, president of Assopace Palestina, will engage in an open debate. There will also be screenings of two documentaries: “Mate Superb” by Hamdi Alhroud and “Ave Maria” by Basil Khalil.
The second day, Friday, September 22nd, will host Federica Stagni from Assopace Palestina and Riccardo Noury, spokesperson for Amnesty International Italy, who will discuss Ilan Pappé’s book “Ten Myths About Israel.”
Immediately after, we will be delighted by the exceptional presence of the artist ZeroCalcare, moderated by Diletta Ballotti, a digital activist. They will discuss the relationship between art and resistance together with a representative from Gaza FreeStyle.
Furthermore, we will be accompanied by the lively rhythms of DJ Mary.
In this journey through Palestinian culture, the “Beit Al Falastini” festival aims to get to know its richness and peculiarities up close.
