A Brandizzo, another worker has died on the job. It happened just a few kilometers away from the site of the well-known tragedy in August.
Another worker has died in Brandizzo, as the controversy surrounding the incident at the end of August, in which 5 workers lost their lives on a railway line, continues.
The worker who died today, just a few kilometers from where that tragedy occurred, was employed by a company in the industrial area of Chivasso. The technician was carrying out maintenance work on the electrical system of a warehouse.
The details of the incident in Brandizzo are still unclear, but preliminary investigations conducted by the local carabinieri suggest that the man was crushed by a gantry crane.
Inspectors from the Spresal of the Asl To4 and the public prosecutor of Ivrea are working to reconstruct the events.
The numbers are staggering, and not just in the case of the Brandizzo incident.
Today has been a particularly critical day in terms of workplace fatalities. Brandizzo has now become the symbol of this issue, especially with this new tragic news.
In less than 24 hours, 6 people have died on the job in various cities: from Bologna to Salerno, from Treviso to Naples.
“Working should not mean dying,” said President Mattarella clearly, commenting on the terrible incident in Brandizzo. However, the statistics are horrifying. In fact, INAIL reports over 550 workplace fatalities in the past 7 months.
